For heaven’s sake, get the cadastre working and exploration going

It’s a crying shame that government is allowed to trundle on and miss every opportunity to have a working mining cadastre in place so that exploration can return. Decades ago, a South African company with proper cadastre expertise introduced itself comprehensively, but the government knew better and implemented a departmental alternative which proved embarrassingly useless.

Zambia now benefits from the rejected South African expertise while we have to be content with mining yesterday’s discoveries. As has been said over and over again, the cadastre simply has to be put in place and exploration incentivised through a flow-through share scheme.
